Game Drives in Nyerere National park

Game drives in Nyerere National park: what exactly are “game drives” while on safari in Nyerere National park or on an African Safari, as anyone considering booking a safari in Tanzania, for example, you may or   will have to see game drives indicated throughout the itinerary as a to do activity.  A safari game drive is a vehicle-based adventure excursion into a wildlife area, such as a National Park or Reserve, for the purpose of exploring the park and viewing a variety of wild animals in their natural habitat that the specific national park has.

In Tanzania, game drives typically last 2 to 3 hours in the morning and afternoon hours, with morning timings usually scheduled from 6.30am to 9am and afternoon timings being 3.30pm to 6.30pm, depending on the guest preference, you can opt for an entire day game drive the park.   So when the case is whole day game drive, the guest or travelers have to carry packed lunch or picnic lunch which they will later have at specific point in the park usually scenic to offer a great experience  for the guests.

Prices for game drives in Nyerere National Park and Selous Game Reserve vary and they are as follows f USD 75 per person per game drive to US$ 300 to US$ 550 per vehicle, depending on the camp.

However, booking all-inclusive Safari packages that include multiple game drives in Nyerere national park, accommodation, meals, and flights from Dar es Salaam is less expensive overall and its we are the best people to have that organized.

Great numbers of road safaris feature private safari game drives, whereas Fly in safaris may include game drives provided by the Camp and are most times not private  because you may be added with another person who you may  not have travelled with or in not your group , which means that other travelers may share the same vehicle. The vehicles’ seating capacity is usually limited to a maximum of eight passengers, so this is not a large group. Private game drives do have advantages, however, because you have more personal freedom and flexibility in terms of timing and convenience. Private drives are recommended for tourists with specific interests such as photography or bird watching.

Several visitors to Nyerere National Park are also interested in undertaking night game drives. It is important to note that night drives are not permitted within the main Nyerere National Park, but only in the neighboring Selous Game Reserve. The times vary between 7pm and 9pm, depending on which camp or lodge offers these night excursions to their guests.

Finally, we are frequently asked to explain the distinction between a Safari and a Game drive. A Safari, on the other hand, is complete safari or  Tour that entails many game drives at different locations and parks with a supplement of other activities such as boat cruise , walking  safaris whereas a game drive is just that, a single game drive while on a Safari  in the park.

Safari vehicles Variety / Game drive vehicles

Tour cars used for game drives and other safari activities in Tanzania are usually provided by the safari operator, especially if you book a road safari beginning in Dar es Salaam. The cars are namely 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser Jeeps or non-4×4 Tour Vans, also known as Minibuses. Some tour vans also have 4WD. Both of these vehicle types have safari-styled game viewing roofs.

If you fly into Nyerere National Park or Selous Game Reserve and book  an opt to book activities ie game drive with  the camp you intend to reside in , you are most likely to use  the open 4×4 safari jeeps,  this is because the  open jeeps are  not ideal to travel long distances  therefore are more preferred  park, but also the open some offer awesome wildlife view opportunities  because of their openness in  nature an experience that  awesome.

Safari Land cruiser 4×4

The safari land cruisers are preferred by most tour operators in Tanzania, this is attributed to the fact that they  perform great in all weather and terrains . These Land Cruiser vehicles can seat up to 8 adults if an extra seat is included and one person sits beside the driver. The vehicles are outfitted with multiple game viewing roofs. Reliable, robust, and spacious enough, while also slightly more comfortable than the only other option, the Tour Van / Minibus listed below. This page contains more information about hiring these safari vehicles in Tanzania. It should be noted that these vehicles are available in stretched and regular configurations, with the latter seating only 4 to 5 passengers. Because they are not designed for highway travel, the open-sided versions of these (shown below) are only used within the parks.

Minibus or Van Safari Tour

Less expensive than 4×4 Landcruiser or Land Rover Jeeps, minibuses seat 6 people in comfort, each with their own window seat, though some vehicles are configured to take up to 9 passengers. Despite the fact that they are not typically 4×4, these safari vans are agile, dependable, and capable of handling almost all road safari trips available in Tanzania. Due to road conditions, only a few select locations in Tanzania require the use of a 4×4 Safari Jeep.

Safari 4x4s with Open Sides

These vehicles are popular because they provide an unobstructed side view during game drives and are almost always only found stationed at Safari Camps or Lodges within parks or reserves. Visitors to Nyerere National Park who absolutely require this type of vehicle are advised to bring this up with their Safari outfitter during the trip planning process, which will most likely result in the operator booking a “Flying Safari package,” which simply means you take a short one hour flight from Dar es Salaam to Nyerere, where you will then be provided game drives in this type of vehicle, though it is worth noting that certain lodges and camps w Check these details before making a reservation.
