Boat trips in Nyerere National park
Boat trips in Nyerere National park : Rides through Nyerere National Park on Boat Safaris Nyerere National Park, which spans the Rufiji River basin in southeastern Tanzania and is now the continent’s largest national park, is home to some of the most breathtaking scenery and abundant wildlife. It is one of the few areas in Africa where it is possible to watch wildlife and birdlife from water, and the Rufiji River is the park’s most notable feature, providing a superb natural environment for boat safaris. Hippos, crocodiles, and a wide variety of birds, including the African Fish Eagle, Malachite Kingfisher, Goliath Heron, African Skimmer, and Boehm’s Bee-Eater, can all be seen from the water during a boat safari. Nile Monitor Lizards and many species of monkeys (including the Blue Monkey, Savannah Baboon, and Black and White Colobus Monkey) can frequently be seen sunning themselves on the riverbank trees.
Nyerere National Park offers two distinct boat safari experiences. Sunset and sunrise boat safaris along the Rufiji River outside the reserve (no entry permission required), or full-day boat safaris exploring the Rufiji River and the lakes of the Selous. Morning or afternoon is perfect for taking the quick boat safari. Light is best first thing in the morning (unless it’s gloomy), but crocodiles are more likely to be out and about in the afternoon when it’s warmer. Sunset boat safaris are a beautiful way to spend the afternoon.
The half-day boat safari is a quick trip up the wide Rufiji River, but the full-day boat safari explores the lakes of the Selous Game Reserve in greater detail. Everything you would see on a standard, shorter boat safari, plus whatever other species happens to be hanging out by the water as you go. Animals like the giraffe, impala, waterbuck, kudu, and warthog frequent the river, and the occasional elephant crossing or taking a bath is a pleasure for lucky visitors. In order to have a picnic lunch, your guide will pull over to the shores of one of the lakes.
Cost/Fee of Private Boat trip : between US$25-US$30 per person for an hour ride, for a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 6 passengers. It all depends on where the boating service is based, as the boat tour might take place in the various boat safari locations in the park . The boat journey begins and ends at a little wooden jetty on the sandbank, where some of the safari camps keep their own boats.
